Medical Card
Medical Card Holders are entitled to a full eye examination and a certain range of Spectacles free of charge. The process involves filling a form and on receiving authorisation an eye appointment can be arranged. You can pick up the form in store and we will be happy to assist you filling it in. You should send the form then to your Local Health Office.

(Optical Benefit)
Optical Benefit entitles You (provided You've made enough PRSI contributions) to:
- free sight test (excluding VDU test and driving report)
- an eye examination for contact lenses - the Department will pay a fixed amount towards this assessment
Free glasses if you choose a certain type of frame. If you choose a frame other than the types covered under the Treatment Benefit Scheme, the Department will pay a fixed amount towards the spectacles of your choice.
You can get Treatment Benefit on your spouse's or partner's PRSI record provided they satisfy the qualifying contribution conditions and you are dependent on your spouse or partner.
How to apply:
Simply fill in an appropriate form. You can collect one of them in store anytime.
